When we first moved into our very own apartment together in Jackson Heights, Queens, we knew it was going to be a fixer upper (reminding ourselves every step of the way that it was all worth it for the charm). Those first few days of being a first time homeowner felt so surreal and I knew I wanted to capture this feeling, this version of us, amidst all the chaos of prepping it for move in. My phone was quickly propped up on the Galaxy Sander 2000 left by our flooring guy and we each popped into a doorway, creating perhaps one of my favorite photos to look back on.

Fast forward 5 years, past our wedding, job changes, 2 renovations, Covid isolation, and becoming first time parents. We had originally thought this would be our forever home but circumstances had changed and it was time for a move. Then came the absolute chaos of buying a new home while selling our existing home (would not recommend), and also finding out I was pregnant again. In the blink of an eye, we were settled into our new home and it came time to say a last goodbye to our apartment and hand over the keys. We drove back into Queens and, standing in the once again empty apartment, it felt even more surreal than those first few days (this time with two extra team members in tow, one in utero). This time, I wanted to capture the bittersweet feeling overwhelming us. So I propped the phone on the ground, we popped into our respective doorways one last time, our son got his go-to posing face ready, and thus created the perfect complement to the first photo. These now hang side-by-side in our new home.

I met Jen in 2023 when she reached out to me for a family session. She was expecting her second baby and wanted to capture her family of three before the new arrival.

Jen was so warm and engaging as she shared her moving story with me and showed me these photos she had captured. I loved her story so much that I asked her if I could share it. I’m so grateful.

I’ve waited a very long time to say this - 10 years ago I had a dream and I am finally ready to share because today is special.

This is my motherhood story - well, one of them. An important one.

I’ve been pretty private about my family and journey since I started, partly to protect my children while they were small. But they’re older now. And I think it’s time.

Time for them to see what their momma has built.
Time to tell the truth of what this journey has taken—and given me.

If my story inspires even one mother to keep going, then it’s worth telling.

It’s true what they say, that everyone’s journey is different. Especially when it comes to careers and motherhood.

I had no idea what I was doing when I started this business. But, I say proudly that today marks 10 years since I walked away from my corporate career to pursue this dream—and what a journey it’s been.
